E&M Combustion develops mobile heaters for aluminum electrolysis tanks

E&M Combustión has developed mobile heaters for the aluminum electrolysis tanks of a renowned company. Overall, the Spanish thermal engineering firm will deliver a total of six heating units, in two successive phases, to the furnace circuit of the aforementioned aluminum foundry.

These tanks heating modules consist of independent systems composed of mobile heaters containing E&M Combustion burners integrated into drawers. They move on wheels and are designed to heat aluminum electrolysis vessels. The units are designed to remove compounds from the residues left behind after the vessels are shut down, as part of the plant’s commissioning procedure.

The mobile heaters for aluminum electrolysis vessels are presented as a transportable unit on a trolley, which can be moved through the tunnel that runs parallel to the aluminum vessels, allowing them to service all of them.

These heating systems contain integrated burners from the company’s EM-100 LOM TL model. They will operate with diesel fuel inside a closed mobile container to avoid disturbances from the electrolysis vessels’ magnetic fields. They will also be equipped with the corresponding fuel tanks, hydraulic pressure units, and control consoles.

The thermal engineering company has already commissioned the first two heating modules for the aluminum smelter and will soon begin delivering and commissioning the remaining four units.

Combustion technologies

Since its founding in 1994, E&M Combustión has developed burner technologies with low polluting emissions that simultaneously enable significant energy savings.
