E&M Combustión has proceeded to the automation of the welding process of its industrial burners through the incorporation of a last generation robot in its Artea plant.
With the objective of introducing the automation of the welding process, the engineering company has incorporated a last generation robot that allows to improve the productivity of the company and increase its competitiveness in the market.
Concretely, it has launched a robotic welding installation composed of 1 robot KUKA model Robot KUKA KR20 R3100, with 1 positioner
type H (KP3-V2H750 R1000), with five axles (with 2.2m of length between points, a load capacity of 750 kg on each side and a turning radius of 1m). In addition, the facility has Fronius TPSi welding equipment. The new system is called to improve productivity, increase competitiveness and guarantee optimal quality in welding.
This installation will have a perimeter fence, and all kinds of security to allow a safe work for the operators, as well as CE marking of the installation.
This automation project is part of the increasing complexity of having enough qualified personnel in welding, which represents a significant challenge for him
industrial sector, hinders regularity in the delivery of work and affects operational efficiency. The implementation of automation not only responds to this problem, but also allows to take advantage of the opportunity to modernize the productive processes, optimizing times and reducing operational costs.
E&M Combustión is thus moving towards digital transformation and Industry 4.0, where automation and robotics play a key role. The incorporation of the welding robot will not only increase productivity, but also improve the quality of the products and reduce the variability inherent in the manual process. Compared to traditional welding, this technological solution will allow a reduction of up to 66% in welding time per task, ensuring stricter quality standards and greater traceability.
Objective of the automation of the welding process
- Continue with the progressive automation of the plant, incorporating digital and automated processes that improve the productivity of the company and guarantee its competitiveness in the markets. This strategy is called to save a substantial amount of resources in the welding process and to optimize the manufacture of combustion equipment.
- Increased productivity: Significant reduction in welding times and increased efficiency in production processes.
- Quality improvement: Guarantee of more uniform and repetitive welds, minimizing human errors and manufacturing defects.
- Constant reproduction of the welding process, in a repetitive manner and with complete documentation of all welding parameters.
- Reliability. The software of the welding robot allows to identify the limits of the axes, calculates the starting points, the final points and the routes, and sets teaching points independently. Obstacles can be visualized and corrected in time before welding.
- Provision of sensors to guide and control welding.
- Modernization and digitalization of the plant: Integration of advanced technologies within the framework of Industry 4.0, optimizing production management.
- Environmental impact: Reduction of material waste, optimization in the use of resources and improvement in the energy efficiency of the process.
- Occupational safety: Reduction of the exposure of workers to risks associated with welding, such as toxic fumes and high temperatures.
