Low NOx burners to operate in a heater for the Mexican oil industry

Thermal engineering company E&M Combustion is developing two Low NOx burners to operate in a heater for the Mexican oil industry. The burners, from the JBM-HP 4500 G EX family, will be installed in Monterrey, where they will operate in a heating application for the oil and gas sector.

To this end, the burners have been specifically designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, with NEC Class 1, Division 2 classification, suitable for locations where flammable gases, vapors, and liquids are present.

The developed equipment has passed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) phase, consisting of exhaustive tests carried out at the factory to verify compliance with the client’s requirements and specifications. This is intended to validate and guarantee the quality and proper operation of the equipment before its installation at the plant, scheduled for the coming weeks.

The modulating burners designed by E&M Combustión for this oil and gas application are low-NOx emission burners that use natural gas as fuel and have 4,500 kW of power. They are capable of modulating flame size electronically based on heat requirements.

The equipment is fully automated, with air regulation via dampers and an electrical panel responsible for control and regulation from the ignition sequence to the rest of the operation, power control, and tightness.

JBM-HP burners are frequently used in the oil and gas industry. They integrate the motor and fan into a single unit, optimizing space and facilitating installation. They are capable of reaching up to 25 MW of thermal output. They are also suitable for ATEX and NEC-rated areas, as they are designed to operate in potentially explosive environments, complying with safety regulations.

With regard to the environment, JBM-HP burners represent a generation of advanced technology that reduces the environmental footprint and maximizes energy efficiency.
