Five green hydrogen equipment joins the new Basque list of Clean Technologies

Five green hydrogen equipment are incorporated into the new Basque list of Clean Technologies to promote the sustainable development of the Basque industry, and they do so with a 30% deduction in Corporate Tax.

The Basque Government has updated and expanded a fiscal instrument that plans to boost the efficiency of production processes through the implementation of equipment with better environmental performance in the Basque production plants. Among the new technologies incorporated are five aimed at promoting the use of green hydrogen, as well as another three for improving waste treatment.

In this way, companies with tax domicile in the Basque Country can obtain a deduction from the net amount of Corporate Tax of 30% of the amount of the investment made in any of the equipment defined in this List of Clean Technologies.

The List of Clean Technologies is a fiscal instrument to promote sustainable development and facilitate the application of Basque environmental policy, through technology transfer and implementation of equipment with better environmental performance.

The measure understands “clean technology” as any process, product or service that reduces negative environmental impacts through significant improvements in energy efficiency, sustainable use of resources or environmental protection activities.

The objective of the new list of clean technologies is to act as a lever to create a new industry, make the territory’s companies more competitive and commit to decarbonization, with an eye toward the goal of climate neutrality by 2050.

Green hydrogen in the new list of Clean Technologies

In updating the recent list of Clean Technologies, the Government has selected five green hydrogen technologies for incorporation: 

• Hydrogen electrolyzers
• Advanced membrane reactors and separators
• Low NOx hydrogen burners
• Fuel cell hydrogen vehicles
• Hydrogen dispensing systems for mobility (hydrogeneras)

Clean Technologies applied to the waste industry

The new Clean Technologies included in the list for waste treatment are:

• Optical separators using VIS and NIK
• Fluidized bed dryers
• Regeneration of foundry molding sands

Environmental benefits of Clean Technologies

The technologies included in the list meet characteristics that offer a technical and environmental advantage to the companies that acquire them: 

• They are accessible. They are developed on an industrial scale and are available on the market. accesibles. 
• They have a limited degree of implementation, preferably innovative, and it is positively valued that the number of potential installations to which the technology can be transferred is high.
