EMPRESA XXI. E&M Combustion extends its business base with new offices in Madrid and Mumbai and deepens its activity in hydrogen and the reduction of CO2 and NOx emissions.

The Spanish company E&M Combustion works on several fronts to reinforce its international and technological projection. The plans include strengthening its network outside the Basque Country, innovation work in reducing emissions and preparing the expected increase in domestic demand due to the application of RD 1042/2017.

E&M Combustión‘s plans to extend its offer have made significant strategic progress in 2021. As explained by its CEO, Iñigo Béjar, “the year has evolved irregularly. The second part of the year has been weaker and has been complicated by the problems of availability of supplies and transportation and with price inflation, which right now is difficult to gauge in the response to demand ”. These market circumstances, however, have not slowed down its plans for diversifying markets and sectors and preparing new innovative actions so that its combustion systems remain at the forefront.

To shore up the service and supply capacity, Iñigo Béjar highlights the plans to improve the position in the domestic market and in Asia. On the one hand, they are in the process of expanding and moving their office in Madrid, which will expand their engineering and maintenance resources; while, on the other hand, they are working on the plan to open a technical office in Mumbai, a project that faces the problems derived from the pandemic but that they trust that “it will be operational in 2022-2023, which will also allow us to access the areas of influence of India, both in other Asian and African countries ”.

The greater availability of media in Spain is also due to the technological adaptation process promoted by RD 1042/2017 for the limitation of emissions into the atmosphere from medium-sized combustion facilities. “The industrial boiler park, in general, exceeds the requirements to which it must adapt before December 2023. In this advance, the combustion systems are essential to increase the efficiency of the boilers and adjust emissions to the regulations. The truth is that the delay in modernization is becoming worrying. “

The adaptation to RD 1042/2017 will promote the modernization of boilers until 2024

As forecasts indicate that environmental requirements will intensify in the coming years, E&M is currently preparing several R & D & i projects to optimize the performance of hybrid and hydrogen-specific combustion systems: “In the end it is about reduce CO2 emissions in gas, diesel and other fuels. In the case of hydrogen, whose combustion does not generate CO2, the aim is to limit NOx. The use of hydrogen in industry will grow in the coming years and we need to know all its characteristics and peculiarities to design adapted solutions ”.

Another point of diversification is centered on its offer in oil & gas, in which a gap has been opened in the oil heating segment: “This activity fits our offer very well by demanding customized equipment for each project. We started with an order for 28 fuel-gas burners for a project of ONGC India, which was a reference in the sector and which has allowed us to participate in other projects in Korea, Algeria, Nigeria and Dubai, the latter market which operates as’ hub ‘and in which we maintain an active presence ”.
