E&M Combustión has designed a burner for a pistachio drying line in Ciudad Real, in the Community of Castilla-La Mancha, a Spanish region favored with a growing production of pistachios and other nuts, due to the favorable climate with mild temperatures in winters and warm summers.

Castilla–La Mancha represents, together with the communities of Andalusia, Extremadura and Castilla y León, one of the main pistachio producers in Spain, with 53,000 hectares of pistachio, 75% of the total hectares, and a production that is around 90 % of this crop. The region is committed to the added value of its food production and the sustainability of the rural environment.

Pistachio drying line

The processing and treatment plant in which the Ciudad Real pistachio drying line has been installed will use the JVAV air vein burner designed by E&M Combustión to optimize the product, through a drying process carried out in the proximity of the production fields, to offer an efficient and direct solution in the drying process. In addition to the design and manufacturing, the company has carried out the assembly and commissioning of the installation of the drying line.

The pistachio drying line will thus have uniform and efficient heating, optimizing performance and reducing the energy consumption of the installation. Finally, these improvements will allow the properties of the pistachios to be better maintained once harvested and without loss of quality.

The drying equipment is prepared to generate hot air with different powers and is capable of adjusting the power and flow to adapt to the needs of the demand, which allows the plant to reduce the energy consumption of the process and its subsequent energy savings

Air vein burners

Air vein burners are used in various industrial applications, mainly when direct heating is necessary, as is the case in the drying processes of different products, either in painting lines, the food sector (dehydration or drying of food), ceramic and glass industries and process air recirculation facilities.

The manufacture of E&M Combustión air vein burners is tailored for each specific application and adapts to the different ducts where they will be installed. They have a series of advantages over conventional burners for this type of applications, among which are their high modulation range (approx. 1/20), a very stable flame and the elimination of the combustion chamber. On the other hand, they have the advantage of adapting well to operating in dusty and high-temperature environments and their operation and maintenance are very simple.

Air vein burners are usually supplied in two different ways depending on the processes, either incorporating a primary combustion air fan or through grills that are inserted into a duct. E&M Combusción is also responsible for supplying the duct where the secondary heating air goes for both types of equipment.
