Industrial burners | Oil burners | solar thermal plant | Bookport | South Africa | E&M CombustionE & M Combustion has supplied two oil industrial burners of 7,000 kW for solar thermal plant Bookpoort, located near the town of Upington, in the region of Northern Cape (South Africa), built by a consortium led by Spanish companies SENER, ACCIONA and TSK, and which also involved the South African Crowie.

The project has been developed for the Saudi group ACWA Power on a turnkey model also called EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction), and has required more than 300 million euros investment.

The new solar thermal plant Bokpoort is already in operation and has an output of 55 MW gross. It uses technology of parabolic trough collectors SENERtrough ©, with a system of two tanks of 18 meters and 36/40 meters in diameter for energy storage (TES – Thermal Energy Storage) molten salt, 1,300 MWht, providing 9.3 operating hours. The solar field installation is composed of 180 bonds, and its annual output will be more than 230 GWh net. The location of the plant, near the Kalahari Desert, takes advantage of the magnificent solar and environmental conditions of its remote location.

Oil industrial burners

Oil industrial burners designed by E & M Combustion are prepared to work with air preheated to 200 ° C in order to achieve very restrictive emission levels of nitrogen oxide (NOx), although they may also work with air at room temperature according to requirements. To reduce emissions of pollutants industrial burners of E & M Combustion will use a combustion gas recirculation system (F.G.R.). The industrial burners, which burn diesel fuel, will be used for auxiliary support functions; that is, during the launch and safe operation mode.

Recently, E & M Combustion has participated in the two-burner equipment for solar thermal power plant NOORo 1, the first project of its kind in Morocco, with a production capacity of 160 MW. It is the first step of the six plans that include solar energy in this country defined by the Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (Masen).

E&M Combustion
