E&M Combustion will participate in the remodeling of oil fields of the Indian company ONGC

E&M Combustin, a Spanish engineering company specialized in the development and production of industrial combustion equipment, is awarded a large contract to participate in the remodeling of oil fields of the Indian state company Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) that are located in the state of Gujarat , the westernmost of the country.

The state oil and natural gas corporation produces about 70% of the country’s crude oil and 60% of its natural gas.

E&M Combustión has already started the manufacturing phase corresponding to this contract, and contemplates the delivery of 10 specific industrial burners for potentially explosive atmospheres in the oil and gas sector, which will be installed in the Mehsana and Linch district in 2025. It is in this date when the state company plans to complete the remodeling of oil fields in this region.

The operation to modernize and expand the facilities is part of the Indian company’s 2040 Energy Strategy to ensure energy security and satisfy the country’s demand. Within this framework, the Energy Strategy 2040 plan plans to double oil and gas production and multiply its income from upstream, the business of oil and natural gas exploration and production, by three.

Equipment for the oil and gas sector

The equipment designed by E&M Combustion for this oil field remodeling process will operate in critical areas, subject to the safety classification of potentially explosive areas. They will operate in thermal treatment units to improve well exploitation, in indirect fluid heating (IDBH) applications, with the objective of heating crude oil with high viscosity to reduce pumping pressure and increase its efficiency.

The Spanish company’s burners will also work in Heater Treater fluid separation units to eliminate water molecules from the well stream, before entering the pipeline for transport to the refinery. Other burners will be implemented in hot oil circulation units, known as Hot Oil Units, which are responsible for eliminating water and heavy crude oil, preventing them from clogging pipes and flow lines.

For its part, other equipment will be used for the gas dehydration unit (GDU), essential for the gas treatment system in drilling wells and pipelines.

ONGC has identified 46 wells for exploration work in 12 onshore blocks in Mehsana district, which covers the Linch fields. The Mehsana tectonic block is a productive and fairly well explored hydrocarbon block in the northern Cambay basin. Hydrocarbon exploration activity by ONGC in the Mehsana block began in the 1960s and the discovered fields are at an advanced stage of exploitation.
